Ma numesc Brad Adrian sunt din Arad si de multa vreme urmaresc forumul de discutii de pe site-ul dvs mai ales in ceea ce priveste taxa de poluare.Am locuit in Irlanda si de accea urmaresc presa de acolo unde mai nou se discuta serios despre eliminarea taxei de inmatriculare. Va trimit atasat un articol din Irish Tribune

EU drive to scrap VRT and lower Irish car prices

THE EU Commission is to ask the government to abolish, or lower, the vehicle registration tax (VRT) charged on cars sold in Ireland in a move which is set to be strongly opposed by the finance minister Charlie McCreevy.

EU Commissioner Frederik Bolkenstein, who is responsible for the internal market and taxation, is understood to have prepared a discussion document which outlines how the difference in tax levels charged on cars in separate countries is too great and is preventing the proper functioning of an open market.

The document recommends that member states, such as Ireland, should re-examine their domestic taxing policies on cars and in effect calls for the abolition of our VRT system in favour of a more uniform motor taxation policy. If the proposal is adopted by the European Commission it will be sent to each member state, asking them to examine their policy and reply.

VRT is an extra tax the government charges on cars in Ireland and is the main reason car prices are higher here than other EU countries. Car companies have recently tried to get the government to abolish it, arguing that new moves to free up the car market in the EU will effectively lead to up to 20% higher prices in Ireland because of VRT.

Currently, car manufacturers supply cars to Ireland at lower pre-tax prices than other EU countries. However VAT and VRT, an extra tax introduced after import duties were abolished, are added and in the overall majority of cases, cars retail here for much more than elsewhere in the EU. The prices of new cars here increase by between 22% to 30% when VRT is applied. However, the EU has initiated reforms aimed at shaking up the way cars are sold across Europe and making them cheaper. One of the reforms, to be held off until 2005, allows car dealers to set up where they like and to source cars from where they want. When this comes into effect, car manufacturers are understood to be prepared to introduce price harmonisation to protect distributors in their home countries and will end the practice whereby cars are sold to Ireland at lower pre-tax prices. It is thought this will push up the overall cost of cars in Ireland because, as well as having the same pre-tax prices as other countries, we will also have VRT added.

The finance minister Charlie McCreevy has strongly resisted any moves by the EU to interfere with the country's domestic taxation policies and is understood to be opposed to any attempts to lower or abolish VRT.

VRT is worth about €750m a year to the government and if it were removed this money would have to be recouped from other forms of taxation.

Recently, however, increasing pressure has been put on the minister as the EU moves in relation to car selling have highlighted the fact that Irish car buyers are being asked to pay over the odds. A recent survey, for example, showed how Ireland offers the best deal on just seven car models, even though we have the highest pre-tax prices for only three models.

It is understood that Commissioner Bolkenstein's proposals may face opposition from the UK commissioners in the EU and could be halted at an early stage.

However, an EU Commission spokesman said this weekend that the discussion document was due to be issued shortly.

    In articol se spune :”to abolish, or lower” si : “is set to be strongly opposed by the finance minister Charlie McCreevy.”.
    Deci nu e chiar cum spuneti in titlu…
    Eu ma intreb insa altceva : o taxa auto menita sa protejeze industria autonoma nu va determina fabricantii autohtoni (Dacia si Ford)sa faca pe nesimtite rabat de la calitatea masinilor, ei stiind ca oricum sint protejati de statul roman ? Pe de alta parte, ma uit la productia autohtona de carne de porc, ce nu beneficiaza de nici o protectie a statului. Efectul a fost falimentarea multor producatori romani astfel ca Romania este azi in situatia nefireasca de a importa 70% din carnea de porc.
    Price masura protectionista este cu dus-intors…

    treaba e in felul urmator: nici in Irlanda si nici in alta tara UE ,taxa nu depaseste valoarea de piata a autoturismului!!! taxa e de la cativa zeci de euro la cateva sute de euro pe cand in romania e de la cateva sute la cateva mii!!!
    Raportat la salariul de 2-300 euro al romanilor faceti socoteala.
    Am facut un calcul pe care-l recomand cu caldura si cabinetului Boc: daca ar fi sa-mi inscriu masina in Irlanda as plati taxa acolo 400 euro iar daca ar fi sa o inscriu in Romania taxa e:2000 euro
    deci taxa din Romania e de 5 ori mai mare decat cea din Irlanda unde salariul e de 5 ori mai mare decat in Romania!!!

    Asa cum a observat si cbabeanu, eu din articol inteleg ca in Irlanda presa analizeaza posibilitatea eliminarii taxei de inmatriculare. Ar mai fi favorabili pentru asta niste politicieni europeni din CE, dar guvernul, prin ministrul de finante, singurul politician irlandez mentionat, se opune categoric. Deci titlul n-are nici o legatura cu continutul!

    Poate ady s-a documentat foarte bine ca sa calculeze cat ar fi taxa de inmatriculare in Irlanda si a obtinut o valoare asa mica, dar articolul deplange tocmai faptul ca Irlanda are unele din cele mai mari preturi la masini din cauza taxei de inmatriculare imense, de 22%-30% din valoarea initiala a masinii. Asta sa insemne ca masina lui ady a costat sub 2000€ sau ca articolul e tendentios sau incorect?

    In Irlanda treaba sta in felul urmator: exista in randul populatiei un curent anti -taxa auto la fel cum exista oriunde.La fel ca in Romania exista o taxa de inmatriculare neagreata de Comisia Europeana,taxa de care tin insa cu dintii guvernantii Irlandei.Ei si-au mentinut in ciuda UE,propriul sistem de taxare.
    Insa la ei taxa e de 15-25 la suta din valoarea de piata a masinii.Valoarea de piata e determinata de cei de la finante prin media a 10 anunturi de vanzare(ziare,internet etc) de unde se mai scade in functie de dotari,nr de km… Valoarea de piata e insa cea reala nu cum se facea pe la noi cu diferite cataloage prin vami.Astfel se ajnge ca o masina de 7-10 ani sa aiba valoare de piata mica de tot.Drept urmare taxa de inmatriculare e mica,de ordinul a cateva sute de euro.Ce deranjeaza acolo e faptul ca la masinile noi avand valoare de piata ridicata si taxa e mare ajungand la cateva mii de euro.In rest pentru masinile vechi taxa e ok,cazul meu e destul de relevant,un Audi A6 adus din Anglia a fost taxat cu 400 de euro in Irlanda.
    Aceeasi masina adusa in Romania ar fi taxata cu 2000 euro!!!

    Articolul citat de dvs. ca fiind primit de la Brad Adrian, este din 28 iulie 2002!!!!! Face referire la o propunere de directiva privind taxarea masinilor in UE, propunere care nu s-a discutat inca si, foarte probabil, nici nu va fi discutata – cu atat mai mult aprobata!!! – in viitorul apropiat! So, forget about it!

    chiar s-a discutat in irlanda recent treaba asta si pe langa ca s-a discutat ceva s-a schimbat in bine!!!
